Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Ancient Axum

Welcome to Axum, the cradle of Ethiopian civilization and once the heart of one of Africa's greatest ancient empires. After arriving at Axum Airport, transfer to your hotel in the center of this historic town, which served as the capital of the Aksumite Kingdom from approximately 100-940 AD. In the late afternoon, visit the Northern Stelae Field, observing the Great Stele (33m tall) that fell during construction, and learn about the sophisticated engineering techniques used to erect these monumental granite obelisks. The evening begins with an orientation walk through Axum's historic center, followed by a traditional welcome dinner featuring authentic Tigrayan cuisine.

Return to Axum for a farewell lunch featuring local specialties before your departure transfer to the airport.
